Talkeetna is base camp for those looking to climb Denali each year.  It's also perfectly situated to sit and stare at Denali if you're not the climbing type.  \u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eHow did Talkeetna come to be?  Gold, you guessed it!  By 1910 Talkeetna was a riverboat steamer station, with a population during WWI of 1,000.  Today, Talkeetna has a similar population count that live there year-round.
