Girdwood Bracelet Inspiration: We recently spent time in Girdwood with family visiting from Georgia.  It had been a few years since we’d been there because we don’t pass it anymore since we no longer live in Seward.  

Let me tell you a little bit about Girdwood.  Girdwood is a magical place.  

Picture a small mountain village nestled in a valley surrounded by towering mountains on three sides and Turnagain Arm to the south.

One of those mountains is home to Alyeska, the first and only ski resort in Alaska.  Hard to believe, I know.  You’d think a state with as much snow and as many winter outdoor enthusiasts would have more than one resort.

Besides the resort, Girdwood is home to a lot of activity, restaurants, and gorgeous homes!

There’s the Forest Festival, the Blueberry Fair, and the Slush Cup held every year.

Girdwood Interpretation: I took a little bit of my favorite parts of Girdwood and created the Girdwood bracelet.

I took the greens from the towering mountains using  large Round Green Nephrite Jade and Prehnite chips to represent the trees and lush vegetation.

I took the black from the steel, cable, and tram cars at Alyeska to give the bracelet an edgy look with black lava stone beads.  That means if you like essential oils, this is also doubles as an essential oil bracelet.

I used two small stainless steel beads to represent the strength and tenacity of Girdwoodians to live where the bears do in some very intense winter storms.  By the way, the bears like to come visit, so don’t leave your door open!

Lastly, I used the coconut chips to represent the very cool, mountain inspired, Alaskan architecture with wooden beams.
